# Week Notes: 8nodes Workflow Generator

This week, I've been deep in the evolution of 8nodes, my AI-powered n8n workflow generator that's riding a massive wave of interest. The core idea is simple: you prompt it, and it spits out a fully-formed n8n workflow JSON you can just plug and play.

## The problem

When I first started exploring the workflow automation space back in January 2025, I noticed that tools like Zapier and Make.com had traction, but n8n was quietly becoming a juggernaut—especially among users who wanted more technical flexibility and self-hosting options. The community growth was staggering, and Google Trends confirmed it: n8n was outpacing Zapier and other automation tools worldwide.

## What I built

**n8n workflow generator**: A tool that takes a simple prompt and generates a complete n8n workflow JSON.

**Multi-agent architecture**: Initially, I tried a multi-agent system to ensure quality and detail, but it introduced too much latency.

**Tool-based approach**: I pivoted to a single-agent using tool integrations, which significantly boosted speed.

## Results so far

I've onboarded 450 users and counting.

The average user generates about 1.7 workflows per user, and I've attracted early adopters like Latecheckout and Yahoo Italy.

I've proven that there's a real hunger for n8n-specific tooling, and that 8nodes can fill a niche even as n8n itself plans to release its own generator.

## Technical notes

The main challenge was context engineering. Early models like GPT-4 and Gemini struggled without deep domain context. Using Anthropic's skills and a more streamlined tool-based agent approach, I've been able to make workflows faster and more reliable.

## What's next

Continue refining the speed to match or surpass tools like Cursor or Windsurf.

Roll out a major update that integrates more community-driven workflow examples for smarter generation.

Stay ahead by focusing on user experience and niche features that the official n8n generator might overlook.
